It's Not A Find When

This seems to be an ongoing practice among a lot of newbies, but veteran boxers are guilty of it also and it really crumbles my cookies. If you bring a letterbox/stamp to an event and leave it out on a table for people to log into and get the image, it is not a traditional box and should not be listed as such on Atlas Quest so that everyone who grabbed the image can list it is a 'find'. It is NOT a find. No one found the box. It was given out freely, lying on the table for all to see and take the image. No one followed any clues to find it. No one found it in any way, shape or form.

In a perfect world, if these are listed at all, they should be listed as event boxes/stamps. But if you are for some misguided reason compelled to list it as traditional, at the very least make people have to do something to get the box. Start a rumor there's a box over under that bush, behind that tree, across the road. Leave some clues on the table and hide the box close by. Make it a Word of Mouth box. Make some kind of effort. But don't just give people free finds that are just lying on tables and aren't true finds. When I first started boxing these were always event boxes or event stamps and no one cared that it wasn't a find. They appreciated the image for itself and the talent, effort and time that went into carving the stamp. We need to get back to basics people!
